I'm Laura

I am a qualified primary school teacher with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology. I am deeply passionate about mindfulness and creativity.

As an artist, I specialise in doodle art, a practice I find incredibly accessible and therapeutic. I believe that doodling is a mindful practice that can create calm in the body and mind, and I love sharing this with others.


Through my online courses, I aim to bring the joys of doodle art to students everywhere. My classes are designed to help you tap into your creativity, find tranquility in the process, and discover the mindful benefits of doodling. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting, you'll find a welcoming space to explore and express yourself.

How it all started...

In 2020, amidst a challenging chapter in my life, I found myself grappling with a traumatic event that cast a shadow over my days.

Struggling to find solace and clarity, I stumbled upon an affirmation online and began doodling around it as a form of catharsis. What started as a simple daily practice quickly evolved into something transformative.

Each day spent doodling brought a subtle shift in my mindset, mood, and overall outlook.

As I documented my journey on Instagram, I discovered a profound healing power in these mindful doodles. By 2023, it dawned on me: this therapeutic technique had not only helped me navigate my own darkness but had the potential to bring comfort and resilience to others. And so, Mindful Doodling with The Barley Moon was born—a platform where creativity meets mindfulness, offering a path to inner peace and empowerment through art.

I loved listening to Laura's beautiful workshop and doing the daily challenge. I can't remember the last time I doodled and I have to say I found it very relaxing and it kept me in the moment. With the huge bonus of hopefully taking on the positive affirmations while doing it.


Wow I absolutely loved this challenge! I will definitely keep it up!


What a fabulous challenge. The mind is amazing. Doodling really takes you out of your mind and transcends you into serene relaxation.

Some fun facts about me...

The only way I can learn facts is to doodle an image next to it to help me remember it!

My favourite doodle is to draw swirls, hundreds of them, all packed closely together; it's my go-to doodle pattern.

I draw most of my inspiration for doodles from nature. The intricate patterns of leaves, the graceful curves of petals, and the rhythmic flow of water inspire me.

I've incorporated doodling into my moon ritual practice. I create Doodle Moon templates to doodle into as part of my meditation practice.

I have just been awarded an Artist's Commission from Creative Places, Edenderry to create a huge collaborative Doodle Mural with the youngsters of Edenderry area.

If I am not doodling I love to ride horses or surf boards although sadly this is more of a rare occurrence these days!
